Samsung’s New 240Hz Blue Phase LCD To Double Image Quality - Gizmo Watch

Samsung’s New 240Hz Blue Phase LCD To Double Image Quality - Gizmo Watch: "In case you spent a truckload of cash on getting a new widescreen plasma TV, you might not want to read on. Word is that electronics giants Samsung have developed a new LCD technology that can literally double existing image driving speeds. Called Blue Phase, the technology looks beyond conventional liquid crystal modes taking image quality to 240Hz driving speed, which is very, very close to a real moving image. What is even better is that going Blue wont burn a green hole in your pockets either. Since the technology doesn’t require crystal alignment layers like other LCDs, the design should turn out to be quite affordable. The good news is that we will be offered first glimpses of the impressive-sounding Blue Phase tech-goodness at LA’s SID 2008 International later this month. The bad news is that the company isn’t planning on taking the technology into mass production until 2011 which means you still have time to extract the cost out of the badass unit you just paid through your nose for.
